What We Do
KF is a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO) — meaning lived experience isn’t something we add to our services. It shapes them.
We know recovery rarely happens in a straight line. We also know it doesn’t happen in isolation. That’s why we work with the whole person and the world around them — creating connection, community, opportunity and practical support that helps people build a life beyond substance use.
We provide peer and one-to-one support, recovery groups, advocacy, community activities, volunteering, wellbeing opportunities and pathways into education, training and employment.
And because substance use rarely affects only one person, we support families, partners, parents, carers and others affected by someone else’s substance use too

My Story
KF started with my family and our experience of addiction, treatment and what I believed would be recovery together.
But recovery isn’t always that simple.
The years that followed taught me that understanding addiction doesn’t mean ignoring its impact — and that the person using substances isn’t the only person who needs to recover.
Sometimes families rebuild together. Sometimes they rebuild apart.
That lived experience has shaped the KF of today: a place for everyone affected by substance use, directly, indirectly. or at risk of being affected.
No judgement. No sides. Just people who get it.

It’s All About Activities
Getting together with family, friends, or teammates can be a game-changer when it comes to recovery. Whether it's a weekend hike with the family, a group yoga session, or playing on a sports team, these activities create strong bonds and support systems. When you're surrounded by people who care about you and share common goals, it's easier to make healthier choices. Plus, these activities boost your mood and confidence, making you less likely to turn to substances for a pick-me-up. So, next time you're feeling stressed or tempted, get active or reach out to us and let' s get active together.

Referral Process
You can refer yourself, refer someone you’re supporting, or be referred by a professional or another organisation.
There’s no complicated assessment and you don’t need to know exactly what support you need before getting in touch.
We’ll start with a conversation — listening to what’s happening, what matters to you and where you’d like things to be different.
Together, we’ll look at the right KF support and, where needed, connect you with other services and opportunities.
No judgement. No labels. No wrong door.
